Peaceful and cosmopolitan atmosphere
Despite being a small town, Santa Gertrudis has a great personality. You'll be surprised by its bohemian and cosmopolitan atmosphere, which can be enjoyed both in summer and winter. A large part of the population lives scattered in the surrounding farmland, where they grow crops and breed sheep and pigs. It is well worth taking the time to sample the locally produced cured meats and cheeses.
The most striking building is its church, built in the 18th century and featuring the largest belfry on Ibiza, as well as a wooden altarpiece and a sculpture representing the first bishop of Ibiza.
Since the 1970s, Santa Gertrudis has also been a meeting point for hippies, artists and all kinds of artisans who have found a real haven here. Nowadays, despite its small size, the narrow streets of this town are full of decoration and craft shops, sophisticated boutiques, as well as a wide variety of bars and restaurants where you can enjoy the rich and varied cuisine of the island. Treat yourself to a relaxing dinner in the best company!
